The Tarsar Marsar Trek is a mesmerizing 7-day journey through the pristine landscapes of Kashmir, covering approximately 48 km. Starting from Aru Valley near Pahalgam and ending back at Aru, this trek takes you to the twin alpine lakes of Tarsar and Marsar, nestled at altitudes of around 3,800 m (12,467 ft) and 4,000 m (13,123 ft), respectively. Day wise Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar & Drive to Aru Valley

  • Morning: Arrive at Srinagar International Airport or bus stand. Meet the trek team and drive 3-4 hours (112 km) to Aru Valley (7,920 ft / 2,414 m), the trek’s base camp.
  • Afternoon: Pass through Pahalgam, enjoying views of the Lidder River and apple orchards. Reach Aru, a charming village surrounded by meadows and forests.
  • Evening: Check into the campsite. Trek briefing and acclimatization walk around Aru.
  • Meals: Dinner at the campsite.
  • Overnight: Stay in tents at Aru.

Day 2: Trek from Aru to Lidderwat

  • Distance: 10 km | Duration: 5-6 hours | Altitude: 7,920 ft to 9,120 ft (2,414 m to 2,780 m)
  • Morning: After breakfast, begin trekking along the Lidder River through pine forests and Gujjar settlements.
  • Afternoon: Cross streams and reach Lidderwat, a beautiful meadow at the confluence of two streams—one from Tarsar and another from Kolahoi Glacier.
